EXPERIENCE THE MYSTIC DELIGHTS OF A VENETIAN MASKED BALL AT THE WBC LAYING UP SUPPER – SATURDAY 29TH NOVEMBER 2008
The Laying Up Supper is the event that traditionally signals the end of the general boating season of WBC. A black tie evening, it is a chance for us to dress up and dance the night away. This year it is being held once again at Castle Royle Golf Club, on Saturday 29th November.

Our theme is Venetian Masks. Think theatrical, feathers, vibrant colours and flamboyant decoration! This event is always over-subscribed so to secure your place (or table) please complete the enclosed form in Boating Banter and return to Jo Kennedy-Cooke . An evening not to be missed!

FUN ON THE RIVER - WHATEVER THE WEATHER!

Another busy boating season comes to a close as the club prepares to wind down general boating for winter. This summer has been a little kinder than 2007 but we have still had to contend with Red Boards and wet weather and would like to thank our members for persevering and continuing to come down and enjoy all the club has to offer. Thankfully, the rain stayed away for our Rag Regatta in July which was well attended and we hope you all had a good day, whether competing or cheering on. Anyway, what does weather matter? If you are punting in Canadian canoes you’re likely to get wet anyway!

Our training courses were, once again, well subscribed and we managed to complete these with the minimum of disruption. We hope those of you who undertook courses felt them worthwhile and have been able to put your new skills into practice. Other successful events such as the Summer Party, Treasure Hunt and Family Fun Day, to name but a few, all serve to remind us what a special place WBC takes within the community life of the village and we hope you will continue to make the most of everything it offers in 2009, whatever the weather!
